Chelsea fans are expressing their strong opposition to a potential sponsorship deal with an online casino that specializes in crypto gambling. The club’s partnership with Three has come to an end, and they were hoping to secure a profitable collaboration with Paramount+, a popular American streaming service. However, the Premier League has intervened, citing concerns about potential conflicts with television rights holders.
Despite the upcoming ban on gambling shirt sponsorships starting from the end of the 2025-26 season, Chelsea is reportedly engaged in advanced negotiations for a one-year shirt sponsorship with Stake.com.
A recent survey conducted by the Chelsea Supporters’ Trust revealed that 77% of fans either disagree or strongly disagree with the proposed deal with Stake. The CST warned that such a sponsorship would undermine the positive work carried out by the Chelsea Foundation in raising awareness about the risks of gambling among schoolchildren in west London. They declared that it would be shortsighted and would cause many members to view future CFC Foundation projects as mere tokens.
The CST has urged the club’s board to engage in open dialogue regarding any decision, stating that it is common knowledge that the sponsorship with Three was set to expire this summer. The lack of clarity around the new sponsor’s selection until June has left the CST disheartened and perplexed. The primary sponsorship of an online casino and betting company is not aligned with the club’s commitment to becoming a “world-class” organization, according to the CST.
